The White Coats group ended last December, 2013. It was a nice experience for me to see these young, filipino children who aren't as fortunate as I am and see how happy they were. It felt good to see them listening when I was teaching the experiments we were going to conduct and see them smiling when they saw their finished product.
Charles, what else made this a "nice experience" for you? Apart from their smiles and your having taught them, reflect on what global issue you may be addressing locally and how this activity was successful. How much of it was individual work?
ReplyDeleteThe White Coats was a nice experience for me because that experience has helped developed who I am today. It's made me more comfortable with young children, even though I don't understand the language they're speaking. The issue I was addressing locally was that young children in poverty aren't introduced to science experiments and science itself since they can't afford education. This activity was successful because I was able to see the enjoyment and learning the kids received while they were conducting their experiments and the final results.
